KONG is a brand of dog accessories and toys that keeps on giving! Kong is known for making tough dog toys and games that last. They are constantly working hard innovating new ideas to improve the lives of our pets. One of their newer items is the KONG Tiltz Treat Dispenser. It’s a fun idea that is designed to stimulate your dog.
The treat dispenser comes in two sizes for large and small dogs:
They describe the dispenser as a no mess dispenser that mentally and physically stimulates your dog. As the dogs try to reach the treats, the dispenser tilts, rocks or spins and the dispensing of the treats is erratic. So, the dog needs to keep trying different ways to earn a treat.
The dispensers are a green top over a blue wobble base. The small version is approximately 18cm or 7″ in length and the large version is approximately 19cm or 9″ in length. They have the KONG branding logo in relief on the top part. As is the case with all KONG products, be aware of poor quality copies when you are purchasing.
The Tiltz is easy to use and easy to clean. Requires no batteries and is lightweight.
Another use for the KONG Tiltz is as a food dispenser for dogs who bolt or gulp their food. Any item like this that slows their eating is a valuable tool for promoting their health. The unpredictable dispensing of this item helps to slow the eating down more than some other items because your dog cannot learn the way that the dispenser works and shortcut to getting the food.
KONG Spin It Treat Dispenser
Another recent addition to the KONG range is the Spin It. This comes in the same blue and green colourway as the Tilt but dispenses treats differently. The best way to describe the KONG Spin It is as roughly an acorn or conical shaped dispenser. The cone shaped ends are textured and the cylinder centre sits within the cones and is smooth and opaque. The Spin It treat dispensing option is also available in large and small:
KONG say that the dispenser will spin, roll and flip to engage dogs and that the unpredictable motion ignites natural instincts.
Your dog learns that there are treats inside and when they try to retrieve them or push with their paw or nose, the container goes into a spin or roll. Treats are randomly dispensed.
The Spin It does not require any batteries to operate.
The small version of the KONG Spin It is approximately 17cm or 6.5 inches long and 9cm or 3.5” wide. The large version is 22cm or 8.5” long and 11.5cm or 4.5” wide.
The KONG Spin It is an excellent option for exercising your dog indoors or even outdoors. The random movement and treat dispensing system exercises them both mentally and physically. The dispenser can potentially offer your dog hours of fun and exercise.
KONG Tiltz and Spin It Treat Dispensers
We think that these two options of treat dispensers are fabulous. They offer new ways to stimulate your dog and the Spin It, in particular, also provides plenty of exercise opportunities as well. Dogs should not be left unattended with toys, and like all dog toys, this is particularly the case with strong chewers like terriers. Offering up both will especially give them plenty of stimulation and hours of fun so, if you cannot decide, why not buy them both!
